A new website and app offering tour packages in Europe for people aged over 55 were presented at the Florence chamber of commerce on Thursday. Escape2Europe (www.escape2europe.eu) is the result of an 18-month project financed by the European Commission to establish the specific tastes and needs of 'senior' travellers, in which PromoFirenze of the Florence chamber of commerce was the only Italian partner. It contains two Tuscan itineraries respectively focusing on nature and art and on fine food and wine. All the packages have been put together on the basis of replies to nearly 1,000 questionnaires.
The study showed that within Europe Greece is the most popular country, followed by Spain and Italy, while Africa and Latin America are the most sought-after destinations outside the continent. Greece and Italy are also the countries to which senior visitors return most readily, followed by the UK and France.
