"The next Italo-Algerian summit, to be held in Italy in the first half of 2025, will be an important event that could give a new impetus to bilateral economic relations." This was said by the Italian ambassador to Algeria, Alberto Cutillo, in an interview with El Moudjahid, the main French-language government newspaper.
"This high-level meeting will also be an opportunity to take stock of the Mattei Plan, which is the Italian government's new approach to creating win-win partnerships with African countries," he added
For the Italian diplomat, Algeria is one of the nine priority countries where Mattei Plan activities have been launched, stressing that the Algerian government has pledged its full support for this action, thanks also to "the historic relationship that has always existed with the friend of the Algerian revolution, Enrico Mattei"
Still in the sphere of bilateral relations, Ambassador Cutillo revealed that a visit to Algeria by the Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara, is scheduled to take place in a few weeks, during which he will meet with his counterparts to sign two memorandums of understanding in the fields of professional training and education
On the economic front, the head of the diplomatic mission in Algiers stressed that Italy is one of the main investors in Algeria, pointing out that investments totalling €8 billion were registered in 2023. "Obviously, there is room for improvement, which also depends on the reforms that investors expect from Algeria in the coming years, in the wake of those already implemented recently," he still stressed
