(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 17 MAG - The Central European Initiative supports Trieste's application for EuroScience Open Forum 2020.

That's the outcome of the meeting between Stefano Fantoni, president of Fondazione Internazionale Trieste (FIT), Giovanni Caracciolo di Vietri, CEI Secretary-general, and 18 delegates from the CEI Member States. FIT is the leading organisation of Trieste's candidacy to ESOF 2020.

ESOF (EuroScience Open Forum) is the largest interdisciplinary science meeting in Europe. It is dedicated to scientific research and innovation and offers a unique framework for interaction and debate for scientists, innovators, policy makers, business people and the general public. Caracciolo has strongly supported the candidacy of Trieste, while Fantoni said that the city could be a natural meeting point, both for its ideal location and for connections and relationships already with the countries of the eastern European region. Furthermore, he added, Trieste has a large number of scientific research centres and dissemination agencies far superior to the national average. (ANSA).
