05 September, 19:56
(ANSA) - Florence, September 5 - For gastronomes unwilling
to give up dinners out despite the economic crisis that has
Italians cutting back on spending, a restaurant in Florence has
proposed swapping produce for meals. The tavern that seats 40 and serves traditional Tuscan fare will start offering customers the chance to book a bartered meal.
Restaurant owner Donella Faggioli says that "starting at the end of September, clients can exchange homegrown products in the form of fruit, vegetables or cured meats".
The restaurant will use traded goods in its dishes.
One way, says Faggioli, to get through the "very difficult situation we all are living today".
