Thousands of people have been without
drinking water since yesterday evening in the Bologna area due
to flooding of a local aqueduct due to torrential rain that has
caused the supply to be interrupted, local official said as a
wave of bad weather continued to lash northern and central Italy
Tuesday.
The area affected is Castello di Serravalle, Valsamoggia, a
municipality of almost 5,000 inhabitants.
"A water distribution point has been set up in the town hall
square," Daniele Ruscigno, the mayor of Valsamoggia, told ANSA,
"and right now around 12 o'clock the pressure is starting to
return. We expect most of the water supply to start up again in
the evening". Hera technicians are at work.
