(ANSA) - Rio de Janeiro, April 21 - Former Italy players
Antonio Cabrini, Paolo Maldini, Francesco Totti and Fabio
Cannavaro were put in a top 10 of most handsome footballers to
have appeared at a World Cup that has been released in Brazil.
The ranking was the result of a survey that the Rete Globo
TV network and the Globoesporte conducted on their customers and
readers ahead this summer's tournament in Brazil.
Former Azzurri captain Cannavaro and Totti were both part
of Italy's 2006 World Cup-winning team while Cabrini helped the
Azzurri become world champions in 1982.
Maldini took part in four World Cup finals during his
international career, in which he picked up 126 caps between
1988 and 2002.
Surprisingly the Brazilians only picked one of their own
national heroes in the top 10, Hilderaldo Bellini, the captain
of their 1958 World-Cup-winning side.
The ranking also featured two former England players,
David Beckham and Michael Owen.
