(ANSA) - Florence, June 12 - A 26-year-old Somalian man was
arrested after police found him in possession of 80 false travel
documents, including counterfeit Italian stay permits and
state-sanctioned passport equivalents issued for humanitarian
reasons, investigators said Friday.
The man was arrested by train police at Florence's central
station on Wednesday after he got off a high-speed train from
Naples.
Investigators say he may be part of a larger criminal
organization working with illegal immigrants.
The documents contained a replica of an embossed government
seal, and if photos had been added to the documents, they could
have been used to permit illegal immigrants to circulate freely
in Schengen territory.
