(ANSA) - Brussels, September 23 - The European Commission
on Wednesday opened 40 infraction procedures on migrants against
19 countries. They are accused of not fully implementing the
rules of the common European asylum system, especially in regard
to registration and repatriation.
The action came as EU leaders prepared to meet on the migrant
and refugee emergency at a special Brussels summit. On Tuesday
interior ministers agreed on quotas to distribute 120,000
migrants with four eastern European countries voting against.
