(ANSA) - Bologna, October 28 - A Senegalese asylum seeker
was detained Tuesday after he allegedly tried to rape a woman.
Police say the 22-year-old suspect sexually assaulted a
48-year-old blue-collar worker in the village of Mezzolara di
Budrio in Bologna province, while she was on her way to work.
She resisted and called for help, and he fled when a
vehicle approached. She then contacted Carabinieri police and
gave a detailed description of the offender.
The victim then picked the suspect out of a photo lineup
and also identified him without hesitation once he was picked
up.
The man lived in a facility for asylum seekers, where he
had been moved two weeks ago along with fellow Senegalese who
had reached Sicily in a migrant boat.
