(ANSA) - Rome, December 29 - Police said Tuesday they have
busted a gang of art thieves operating at Rome's Fiumicino
airport, recovering most of the loot.
This includes two canvases by Italian contemporary artists
Ugo Attardi and Renato Guttuso worth a total of 50,000 euros and
belonging to a Rome gallery.
Police said a ring made up of cleaning staff and ground
crew colluded to heist valuable art from passengers while they
were in transit.
Investigators are trying to track down the rightful owners
of the recovered art.
