(ANSA) - Brussels, March 10 - "Up to now we have no evidence of a great flow'' of migrants embarking on the Adriatic route, said Italian Interior Minister Angelino Alfano on arriving at the EU Internal Affairs Council Thursday.
"We are used to making predictions but also to observing reality - explained Alfano - Logic suggests that ''following the closure of the Balkan route another route may open. This is what logic tells us, but the facts on the ground do not confirm this at the moment''.
"We are working to prevent the negative presuppositions that could determine a negative outcome'' said Alfano.
"All the work carried out with Turkey these days is meant to prevent just this - he added - In addition we are also working with Albania, the Premier with the Albania prime minister and myself with the Albanian Minister of the Interior who came to Rome last week. In the next few days I will also visit Albania to carry on working together''.
