(ANSA) - Palermo, March 16 - Police on Wednesday arrested 62 people in a mafia bust that effectively eliminated two entire clans of Sicily's Cosa Nostra mafia, ANSA sources said.
Police are also seizing businesses and property linked to the clans.
The operation resulted from two separate investigations into the Villagrazia-Santa Maria di Gesù and San Giuseppe Jato clans. The arrested are accused of various charges including mafia association, extortion, intimidation, retaliation, abetment, and weapons crimes aggravated by mafia methods.
