(ANSA) - Rome, March 23 - Rain and high winds lashed Italy
on Wednesday.
The Marche region was hit by heavy downpours and several
schools were closed in the Fermo area while rivers were
dangerously swollen.
A pine tree was felled by a gale at Piombino in southern
Tuscany and a road was closed.
Ferry links to the nearby island of Elba were interrupted
by heavy seas.
Florence's famed Boboli Gardens were closed because of high
winds.
