(ANSA) - Bolzano, April 26 - Controls at the Brenner Pass on
the Italy-Austria border are "inevitable", Norbert Hofer of
Austria's far-right and anti-immigrant Freedom Party and winner
of the first round of presidential elections said Tuesday.
"I am certainly not pleased, but we have no choice," Hofer
said.
"The external borders of the Schengen area need to be
secured," he added.
"Only 20% of people arriving in Austria are real refugees
and they have already passed through safe countries," Hofer
said.
