Meloni says brothels better than street prostitution

(ANSA) - Rome, May 24 - Rome mayor candidate Giorgia Meloni told an ANSA forum on Tuesday that she preferred legalising brothels to seeing prostitutes looking for clients on the streets. "I'm more favourable to solutions like brothels than the hypocrisy we have had up to now," Meloni said. "If I become mayor I will wage war on prostitution in the streets, both near and far from residential areas. "The issue must be addressed by a national law that bans prostitution on the street.
    "We'll conduct a battle with permanent controls in the most degraded areas and 24-hour video cameras connected via Internet".
