(ANSA) - Rome, November 16 - Historic public secondary schools continue to provide the best education in Italy, according to the annual classification of Italian secondary schools produced by Eudoscopio for the Agnelli Foundation published on Wednesday.
The research institute assessed 4,378 schools and interviewed 700,000 students for the study and also took the university performance of ex students into account. The ranking showed how, generally speaking, public schools, particularly historic secondary schools, perform better than their private counterparts. The exception was in Milan where the Sacro Cuore, a Catholic high school operating within the state education system, came top in both humanities and scientific subjects. In Rome the best secondary schools specialising in humanities were Tasso and Mamiani and in science Mamiani and Righi.
