(ANSA) - Padua, September 28 - A former military base in
northern Italy which had hosted migrants for the last three
years was cleared on Friday.
The so-called former 'hub', at Bagnoli near Padua, had been a
home to hundreds of asylum seekers.
"A nightmare has ended", said Bagnoli Mayor Roberto Milan,
thanking the government and Interior Minister Matteo Salvini for
ordering the closure.
"The silence is deafening," he added.
