Genoa evacuees allowed to get belongings from homes

(ANSA) - Genoa, October 18 - A first group of people who were forced to leave their homes due to August's Morandi-bridge collapse in Genoa were allowed to return to their apartments on Thursday to collect their belongings. The homes of hundreds of people are unfit for use after the disaster that claimed 43 lives.
    The families are being accompanied by firefighters.
    They have been allocated time slots and have only two hours to get their things.
    Each household has been given 50 boxes, although many came equipped with suitcases on Thursday.
    Giusy Moretti, the spokesperson of the committee of Morandi-bridge evacuees, said the residents did not have enough time to collect their possessions. "I have a list of things to get and I already know that it won't be respected and, once I'm out, I'll have forgotten something," Moretti said. "It's the best we've been able to get and, anyway, we'll be able to return on other occasions".
