(ANSA) - Berlin, January 22 - Germany on Tuesday interrupted its participation in the EU's Sophia anti migrant smuggler operation citing Italy's hard line on stopping NGO ships landing in Italian ports and sending migrants back to Libya, German news agency DPA said.
After the frigate Augusta on Tuesday, DPA said, no further German ships will be sent off the Libyan coast.
DPA cited German government sources as saying that the decision was due to Rome's hard line on taking in migrants.
