(ANSA) - Rome, March 6 - The interior ministry said Wednesday that an operation to clear a big shanty town housing hundreds of migrants in the Calabrian town of San Ferdinando was under way. The ministry said a total of around 600 police officers, fire fighters and health personnel were involved in the operation.
It said 18 coaches were being used to transfer around 900 people to reception centres.
