(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 22 - Stellantis and Samsung SDI have signed a protocol of understanding for a joint venture for the production of batteries in North America, the CEO of the Italo-Franco-US carmaker, Carlos Tavares, said Friday.
A new plant is expected to be built starting in 2025, he said.
Stellantis' goal, he said, is to raise its sales of electrified vehicles in the US to over 40% of its total car sales by 2030.
"We will be well positioned on electric in North America, the strategy of collaboration improves speed and agility," said Tavares. (ANSA).
