Police, army officers bribed to pass candidates

(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 17 - Italian police on Wednesday arrested 14 people on suspicion of rigging recruitment competitions for the armed forces and the penitentiary police in Naples.
    Those accused allegedly took bribes to let people perform well in psychological and aptitude tests, sources said.
    Two prison officers already in jail, Errico Spena and Maurizio Russo, allegedly rigged the recruitment procedures between the end of 2020 and the first half of 2021.
    The pair were caught pocketing 8,000 euros in their union offices.
    Another prison officer, a traffic cop and a corporal in the army were among those arrested.
    They are all accused of rigging tests to pass people who had paid them.
    Many of those arrested have been placed under house arrest.
    Some of them also gave fake COVID certificates to people taking the tests. (ANSA).
