(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 2 - Italy is still top in EU for VAT
evasion with the State losing some 30.1 billion euros in revenue
from the tax in 2019, the European Commission said Thursday.
It is fifth in the EU for the gap between forecast and actual
revenues with 21.3%, behind only Romania (34.9%), Greece
(25.8%), Malta (23.5%) and Lithuania (21,4%), the EC said.
The EU as a whole lost 134 billion euros in dodged VAT in 2019,
the Commission said, better than 2018.
Last year's figures will be heavily impacted by the COVID
pandemic, the EC said. (ANSA).
