(ANSAmed) - ROME, DEC 15 - The European Commission has
approved an Italian voucher scheme for a total of 610 million
euros to help small and medium-sized companies access high-speed
broadband services, saying it does not provide undue competitive
advantage.
Executive Vice President of the European Commission,
Margrethe Vestager, said the plan was conceived to "increase the
number" of small and medium-sized businesses with a high-speed
internet connection "in areas in which adequate infrastructures
are available but they are still not used in a sufficient
measure".
This would contribute to their "development" without "undue"
interference with competition, she said. (ANSAmed).
