(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 28 - An Italian conductor proposed
marriage to a flautist in his orchestra during an encore in
Bologna on Monday night.
The conductor, Matteo Parmeggiani, called flautist Annamaria Di
Lauro to join him on the podium after the end of year concert at
the Teatro Duse and asked her "will you marry me?".
After she said yes the orchestra played Tchaikovsky's Flower
Waltz from the Nutcracker and the happy couple kissed and danced
amid a standing ovation.
The audience went wild at the unexpected romantic gesture.
