(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 14 - A 33-year-old Ghanaian goat herder
employed by Ethiopian goat farmer and Italian integration symbol
Agitu Ideo Gudeta got 20 years in jail for her December 2020
rape and murder on her Trentino holding Monday.
The man, Suleiman Adams, was sentenced to 15 years and eight
months for murder and four years and four months for sexual
violence.
The 42-year-old 'Queen of Happy Goats' was raped and murdered by
the seasonal worker she had hired at Frassilongo in Trentino on
December 29, 2020.
Adams confessed to the crimes.
Agiutu was an ethnic Oromo farmer, entrepreneur, and
environmentalist who immigrated to Italy after experiencing
conflict due to her political activism against land grabbing by
the Ethiopian military for international corporations.
She established a goat farming operation using the indigenous
breed Pezzata Mòchena to produce dairy and beauty products.
Gudeta became a national symbol of environmentalism and
successful refugee integration into Italian society, hailed by
the press and politicians. (ANSA).
