(ANSA) - ROME, APR 12 - The knock-on effects of the war in
Ukraine risk creating major social problems in Italy, Interior
Minister Luciana Lamorgese warned on Tuesday.
"The situation of uncertainty on the economic and social front
that the war opened, in part due to the effect on the energy
market and the supply of raw materials, could have a major
impact on industrial production, economic growth, employment
levels and, therefore, on the country's social moorings,"
Lamorgese said at a ceremony for the 170th anniversary of the
State Police force.
She stressed that "democracies must not accept this attempted
cultural and political move backwards" represented by Moscow's
invasion of Ukraine.
"On the contrary, they must create the conditions so the
consequences of the war can be managed, limiting the possible
social impact of this new crisis," she said. (ANSA).
