(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 30 - A soccer team from Bolzano in
northern Italy is celebrating coming second last at the bottom
of Italian amateur football after 20 years propping up the
table.
"It's a little miracle," said the president of the Excelsior
club, Mirco Marchiodi, after the team notched two draws and a
win in "what has been an extraordinary championship for us".
Excelsior has finished bottom of Terza Categoria, the lowest
rung of amateur soccer and the ninth and last of Italian
football, since 2001-2002.
Its record includs 385 matches lost out of 397 played, with five
wins and eight draws over that time, and 262 goals scored and
2,949 conceded. (ANSA).
