(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 8 - A 100-year-old Italian woman from a
town near Vicenza in Veneto who renewed her driving license last
month said her secret was "to love life".
The sprightly woman from Breganze, Candida Uderzo, told Corriere
della Sera newspaper "I've been driving since forever.
Uderzo said she was still in fine fettle.
"I'm lucky, I'm 100 years old, and being so healthy is a
surprise to me too. I never take medicines, just the odd
sleeping pill once in a while."
Her only regret is losing her husband when she was relatively
young.
"But I decided that staying alive meant enjoying it as much as
possible, and not denying yourself anything. As a first step I
started walking long distances.
"I went on long walks with my friends, it helped me get over my
grief. Once I retired I joined a walking group here in Breganze.
And ever since then I haven't missed an outing. Every Sunday at
six o'clock in the morning you'll find me on my doorstep, ready
to go". (ANSA).
