(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 10 - Surrogacy is an "inhuman practice",
Pope Francis told an audience of the European Federation of
Catholic Family Associations in the Vatican Friday.
"The dignity of man and woman is threatened by the inhuman and
ever more widespread practice of surrogate motherhood, in which
women, almost all poor, are exploited, and children are treated
like goods," said the pontiff.
Surrogacy is an arrangement in which a woman (the surrogate)
agrees to carry and give birth to a child on behalf of another
person or couple (the intended parent/s). (ANSA).
