(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 13 - Rookie coach Salvatore Bocchetti took
over at Verona Thursday after Hellas sacked Gabriele Cioffi
earlier this week.
The Naples-born Bocchetti, 35, ended his playing career as
centre-back in 2021 after nine years in the Russian league
playing for Rubin Kazan and Spartak Moscow.
In Italy he had played for Lanciano, Ascoli, Frosinone, Genoa,
Milan, Verona and Pescara.
He now has his first job as head coach after last year serving
as Igor Tudor's assistant at Verona, and this season coaching
the youth team.
As Bocchetti had no UEFA Pro license at the time of his
appointment, Verona had to ask the Italian Football Federation
to hand him a temporary authorization, which was issued for a
period of 30 days.
Verona are third last in Serie A with five points from nine
games. (ANSA).
