(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 14 - A 48-year-old Italian man murdered
his 85-year-old mother and then called the police to report his
crime near Arezzo Thursday night, sources said Friday.
The murder took place at Calbenzano, in the comune of Subbiano.
Police said the body of Assunta Andreini, killed by her son
Manuel, presented wounds compatible with blows but she may also
have been smothered with a pillow. An autopsy will clear up the
doubts, they said.
The man has been in treatment for some time for drug addiction,
local sources said.
Police said he may have acted in a fit of anger after an
argument with the woman. (ANSA).
