(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 19 - Neapolitan 'neomelodic' rapper Niko
was arrested Wednesday for drug pushing and dodging jail after
he was sentenced recently.
The 31-year-old singer, whose real name is Vincenzo Pandetta and
who has two gold discs to his name for the single Pistols in my
Fendi and the album Bella Vita, made himself scarce after
publishing the news of his arrest on his social media platforms.
The supreme Court of Cassation last month rejected his appeal
against a four-year sentence for distributing narcotics.
The sentence thus became definitive.
Niko posted a photo of himself dressed as a Carabiniere on his
Instagram profile on September 6 saying "Officer, you won't get
us".
The artist, who is the nephew of Camorra boss Turi Cappello,
told his fans "I'll get out and you'll see me stronger than
before".
Five days ago he added "I've changed but I'll pay for my past as
long as it takes to pay for it. I'm not going to flee the
police, nor my responsibilities".
His last photo, taken a few hours ago, shows him behind bars in
Milan's Opera Prison.
Police had tracked him down to the Quarto Oggiaro district of
the Lombard capital. (ANSA).
