(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 4 - Italian police have busted a gang of
morgue nurses who allegedly committed corruption by taking cash
to steer bereaved relatives to certain funeral companies near
Ravenna in Emilia-Romagna.
Police served 16 arrest warrants on the alleged organization.
The alleged conspiracy took place at the morgues of Lugo and
Faenza, police said.
As well as criminally favouring certain funeral homes in
exchange for bribes, the nurses are accused of flouting the
rules in dressing up dead bodies for show, police said.
Overall, some 30 nurses and funeral parlour representatives are
under investigation, police said. (ANSA).
