Minister Gilberto Pichetto said at the COP27 UN Climate
Conference in Egypt on Monday that Italy was aiming to boost the
amount of energy it produces from renewables by 70 gigawatts
within six years.
He said this was necessary in order to respect the EU target of
reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 55%.
Speaking on the sidelines of a conference at the Italian
pavilion at COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Pichetto said
"unblocking" permits for renewable-energy projects was "one of
my main objectives". (ANSA).
