Budget bill lacks a 'tax-shock' measure - Bonomi

Confindustria head calls for 'reconfiguring' of public spending

Redazione Ansa

(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 21 - Carlo Bonomi, the president of Italian industry association Confindustria, said Monday that the budget bill Premier Giorgia Meloni's government is set to approve lacks ambition on tax cuts.
He told a meeting of the association in Genoa that the package "lacks a strong intervention on the labour-tax wedge - a shock intervention is needed".
He said 16 billion euros was needed to cut labour taxes, arguing this was the best way to help people, especially those who are earning less than 35,000 euros and whose purchasing power has been decimated by the costs-of-living crisis.
The said the necessary money could be found by "reconfiguring 4-5% of public spending". (ANSA).
