(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 7 - The Papal almoner, Polish Cardinal
Konrad Krajewski, is to visit Ischia on Thursday, the Feast of
the Immaculate Conception, in order to voice solidarity with the
victims of a landslide that killed 12 people on the Bay of
Naples island on November 26, the Vatican said Wednesday.
It said that "on the day the Church celebrates the Solemnity of
the Immaculate Conception, Pope Francis had decided to send his
Almoner tomorrow to Ischia, in the municipality of Casamicciola
Terme, harshly and dramatically hit by the flood of last 26
November.
"In the days in which we celebrate the funerals of the 12
victims Pope Francis wishes that those affected by this mourning
feel his closeness also through his envoy.
"To each of the family members, moreover, he has destined a
rosary wreath blessed by Him, so that they may feel the comfort
of His prayer and entrust themselves with hope to the Virgin
Mother," a note explained. (ANSA).
