(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 2 - A group of Italian climate protesters
on Monday threw paint onto the facade of the Senate building,
Palazzo Madama, in Rome.
Some windows and the entrance to the vast Renaissance building
were also hit by the paint, thrown by five members of the Ultima
Generazione (UG, Last Generation) group.
Carabinieri intervened to arrest the protesters, whose position
is now being assessed.
In a statement, UG said "behind the act (is) the desperation
stemming from the continual issuing of ever more alarming
statistics and data on the eco-climate collapse, which has
already started, and the lack of interest of the political world
in front of what is shaping up to be the greatest genocide in
the history of humanity". (ANSA).
