(ANSA) - ROME, APR 12 - A fishing trawler with around 700
migrants and refugees who were rescued some 100 miles of the
coast of Sicily was set to arrive in Catania on Wednesday.
The trawler was being escorted by a Coast Guard ship and pulled
by a tug.
Over 200 people rescued at sea had already landed in Catania and
Messina on Wednesday on two other Coast Guard vessels.
Premier Giorgia Meloni's government on Tuesday called a state of
emergency on all the national territory following the
exceptional rise in migrant flows across the Mediterranean, at
the proposal of Sea and Civil Protection Minister Nello
Musumeci. (ANSA).
