(ANSA) - ROME, APR 26 - President Sergio Mattarella on
Wednesday reiterated Italy's support for Ukraine being admitted
to the European Union as he received a Ukrainian delegation led
by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal that is in Rome to take part in
a bilateral conference on the country's reconstruction.
"Italy is strongly in favour of Ukraine's adhesion to the
European Union as soon as possible and we appreciate the
commitment of its government to the path of reforms taken to
respect the EU parameters," Mattarella said.
"I confirm Italy's support for Ukraine in every sphere and for
as long as is necessary," the head of State continued.
"The defence of the independence, liberty and territorial
integrity of Ukraine is a fundamental value for all the
countries of the world who believe in the freedom of peoples and
persons.
"Everyone wants peace, but it must be a just peace that respects
Ukraine's integrity". (ANSA).
