(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 23 - Juventus are out of the European
qualification places at the moment after an Italian Soccer
Federation's (FIGC) sporting court on Monday handed the Turin
giants a 10-point penalty in Serie A for financial
irregularities and they then were thrashed 4-1 at 14th place
Empoli.
Juve, who had been second on Monday morning, are seventh with 59
points, one behind sixth-placed AS Roma, two behind fifth-placed
Atalanta and five behind fourth-placed AC Milan, with two games
to go.
The top four in Serie A qualify for the Champions League, while
the team that finishes fifth goes into the Europa League and the
sixth-placed team gets to compete in the Conference League.
The 10-point penalty was given for irregularities in Juve's
balance sheets in recent years, with inflated values allegedly
given to the value of some transfer dealings. (ANSA).
