(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 26 - Italy's extraordinary commissioner
for the Frankfurt Book Fair 2024 at which Italy will be guest of
honour, Ricardo Franco Levi, on Friday resigned after a press
report that he awarded the fair's communication contract to a
Belgian company his son works for.
The flap over conservative daily Libero's report regarding the
IFC Next company follows Levi's recent embarrassing climbdown
after he cancelled an invitation to physicist and writer Carlo
Rovelli to the Buchmesse after the well-known progressive
science populariser accused Defence Minister Guido Crosseto of
warmongering over Ukraine, only to rescind the cancellation
after a big row.
Levi tendered his resignation to Culture Minister Gennaro
Sangiuliano. (ANSA).
