Pope: surgeon operating on Francis for second time

(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 7 - The surgeon performing abdominal surgery on Pope Francis on Wednesday is Sergio Alfieri, the same doctor who carried out a colon operation on him two years ago.
    Alfieri has done over 9,000 operations during his career.
    He was a pupil of Giovanni Battista Doglietto, who, in turn, was part of the team of Francesco Crucitti, who operated on Pope John Paul II three times. (ANSA).
