(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 27 - The government is following closely the case of an Italian energy manager who is on parole in Moscow awaiting trial reportedly on drugs charges, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said Tuesday.
"We are closely following the case" of the Italian manager detained in Moscow, "let's see what happens" said Tajani arriving at the presentation of the book 'Seeking an Innocent Country. La pace possibile in un mondo in frantumi' by Ambassador Pasquale Ferrara at the Italian Embassy to the Holy See.
The Italian energy company employing the manager detained in Moscow said Tuesday he was on his holidays there and they were stunned by the news that he is awaiting trial reportedly on drugs charges.
Giovanni Di Massa, the 61-year-old Italian detained in Moscow, "is an executive of the company, he was on holiday, we didn't know where he was. The company is struggling with this news, which it receives with great astonishment and amazement. He always appeared as a calm, serious person, a great worker. One struggles to think that his colleague could be affected by these dynamics," said ISS International.
"The company is taking action through the Farnesina," it added, referring to the Italian foreign ministry and explaining that it had not yet had any contact with the executive. (ANSA).
