(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 6 - ANSA and Georgian agency
INTERPRESSNEWS on Thursday signed a cooperation agreement which
enables the parties to have access to their respective news
platforms and exchange content.
The agreement was signed via video link in the presence of the
Italian Ambassador to Tbilisi Enrico Valvo and the Georgian
Ambassador to Italy Konstantine Surguladze.
The two agencies' subscribers, therefore, will be able to make
use of a wider range of international news services: indeed, the
agreement makes it possible for the partners to use each others'
news services for editorial purposes and develop joint
commercial offers to support the communications of institutions
and businesses in the respective countries.
"Relations between Italy and Georgia have intensified in a major
way in recent years, culminating with the State visit in June
2022 of President Zourabishvili and the subsequently signing in
April by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani and his Georgian
counterpart Darchiashvili of a joint statement to establish a
mechanism of high-level relations in the four spheres of
politics, defence and security, economy and trade, and culture,
education and science," said Ambassador Enrico Valvo.
"In the framework of this growing dynamism in bilateral
relations, today's agreement between ANSA and Interpressnews is
an important instrument to promote better public awareness of
the developments in the two countries and the initiatives of
common interest.
"I'd like to thank ANSA and Interpressnews for signing this
agreement, which opens up promising prospects of cooperation
between the two countries in the media field".
Georgian Ambassador Konstantine Surguladze also welcomed the
agreement.
"I think what we are announcing today is very useful and
important," Surguladze said.
"I'd like to stress how excellent the bilateral relations
between Georgia and Italy are at the political, economic, and
cultural levels.
"We are pleased to see these positive dynamics are also reaching
other fields of common interest, in this case media and
communications.
"We pay particular attention to this sector in today's world in
which fast, quality information is of vital importance in every
sphere.
"We understand the need to multiply contact opportunities and we
hope that today's agreement signed by the Georgian and Italian
agencies can help deepen reciprocal knowledge between Georgia
and Italy.
Natalia Mumladze, the Newsroom director of Interpressnews's
parent group Palitra Media, said: "in the era of disinformation,
when uncontrolled, biased news is spread on social media, the
importance of quality media is at an all-time high.
"It is a great privilege and, at the same time, a great
responsibility for our agencies to be trusted by readers to be
the source of relevant, balanced and verified news," Mumladze
continued
"The Interpressnews news agency is an example of a media outlet
that found its role with readers almost 25 years ago, becoming
the main source of reliable news in Georgia.
"Today, with the signing of the agreement with the ANSA news
agency, we are moving to a new phase: I am sure that the
cooperation between these two agencies will be fruitful and that
our readers will have access to more interesting and diverse
news".
ANSA Chief Executive Stefano De Alessandri expressed
satisfaction at this new international collaboration agreement.
"Our international networking circuit has been enriched by an
important news partnership in an area of strategic importance on
the border between Europe and Asia," De Alessandri said.
"In addition to guaranteeing reciprocal access to certified news
between Georgia and Italy, this agreement is also a step towards
the development of projects to support the communications of
institutions and businesses in the two countries". (ANSA).
