(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 7 - Region of Lazio Communications Chief
Marcello De Angelis on Monday apologised after sparking a big
political row by saying that three of the far-right terrorists
convicted of the 1980 Bologna train station bombing are
innocent.
But in a long post on Facebook, De Angelis did not say he would
be resigning from his position, something opposition parties
have been calling for.
"In the last few days I have expressed personal reflections on
my social-media profile which have become the subject of a row
that has involved everyone," De Angelis said.
"I intend to apologize to those people, and there are many,
starting from the people closest to me, whom I have caused
unease, dragging them into a situation that has taken on a
dimension that is unimaginable for me". (ANSA).
