Not unmanageable numbers, reception policy needed says Casarini

(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 14 - Mediterranea Saving Humans civil society migrants platform said Monday some 100,000 migrants have now arrived in Italy this year, as it had expected.
"In Italy we are now at one hundred thousand arrivals, we had foreseen it. But these are not unmanageable numbers. The real problem is that there is a lack of a serious reception policy", said chief Luca Casarini.
He was speaking from Trapani where its rescue ship Mare Jonio is docked waiting "for the last inspections on August 22nd. Then we will be ready to start again".
Almost 20,000 men, women and children have died trying to reach Italy this year. (ANSA).
