(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 31 - Th extradition from Pakistan to Italy
of the father of Saman Abbas, an 18-year-old Pakistani-Italian
woman allegedly killed by her family at Novellara near Reggio
Emilia in April 2021 after refusing an arranged marriage in
Pakistan, is a diplomatic success for Italy, Foreign Minister
Antonio Tajani said Thursday.
"The extradition to Italy of Shabbar Abbas, accused of murdering
his daughter Saman, is also the result of great diplomatic work.
Thanks to Pakistan for its cooperation. Now justice will take
its course," Tajani, who is also deputy premier, wrote on X.
Abbas, is set to arrive on a flight from Islamabad at Rome's
Ciampino Airport in the early hours of Friday morning, after
which he will be briefly held in a Rome jail before moving on to
a jail in Reggio.
His wife and Saman's mother Nazia Shaheen is the only suspect
who is still at large.
Abbas allegedly killed Saman along with her uncle, two cousins,
and his wife. (ANSA).
