(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 15 - President Sergio Mattarella said
Friday that politicians should resist the temptation to ride the
wave of emotion stirred by people's fears.
"If there is something a democracy cannot afford, it is for its
conduct, that of the authorities and citizens, to be moved by
purely circumstantial feelings, with a prevalence of.
"There are two possible errors - obsessively repeating the
issues according to a logic that says, when faced with the
challenges that life presents us, it is enough to highlight them
without adequately and courageously seeking solutions.
"Or, worst still, giving in to the fears and the cynical
temptation to ride them". (ANSA).
