(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 2 - The migrant pre-removal centre (CPR)
that has been operating for years at Gradisca d'Isonzo near
Gorizia in northeast Italy is now a bomb ready to explode, the
local mayor said Monday.
"The CPR is a bomb ready to explode at any moment, also because
of the level of violence generated inside, because of the lack
of specific rules for those who manage the facilities", said
Linda Tomasinsig,
The centre has for years housed about a hundred people, next to
a reception centre that gives shelter to another 600 migrants.
"All this to repatriate, from the whole of Italy, a little more
than 3,000 people in 2022: a derisory result resulting from very
high economic, social and human costs".
'The government,' she added, 'has proposed a flagship measure"
with its decree setting up more CPRs across Italy.. (ANSA).
